Local Culture Journal

Editorial policy

Local Culture Journal aims to publish clear, careful writing about the ways people give places character. We distinguish what a piece can establish from what it cannot, and we make our editorial and commercial boundaries visible.

Accuracy and context

We check names, descriptions, and factual statements against suitable material available to us, and we take care not to present a general impression as a settled fact. Cultural practices may differ among neighbours and shift over time; articles should make that context clear and avoid speaking for people whose views have not been represented.

Independence

Editorial choices are made for their relevance to the publication's subject and readers. A partner relationship does not guarantee coverage, a favourable view, or influence over independent editorial decisions. Where a piece has a commercial relationship, we label it plainly so readers can understand its context.

Corrections

If you believe an article contains a factual error or needs important context, please send the page title and a clear description through the Contact page. We review the concern and, where a correction is warranted, amend the relevant wording and make the change clear to readers.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid or otherwise partner-supported material is identified as such, and partner placements are kept distinct from independent editorial material. Some illustrations may be generated with artificial intelligence; we label them where they appear so they are not mistaken for documentary images.

Our point of view

A place is more than its landmarks.

Local character also lives in shared habits, familiar words, handmade things, and the spaces people return to.
